About

John Stewart

  • John is a USAT Level II Certified Triathlon Coach and has a BS in Electrical Engineering. Since 2004 he has worked one-on-one with clients to plan and implement their race training. He coaches beginners and elites alike, from first races to world championships.
  • His clients have completed more than 400 races – triathlons, duathlons, marathons, 5/10Ks, and ultra-distance events – achieving All-American status, top AG finishes at worlds, iron- and half iron-distance events, and podiums in many local races.
  • John prides himself on the results his athletes achieve, their year-over-year improvements, and that the majority train with him for multiple seasons.

Classes

  • John has been the head swim coach for JackRabbit Sports in Brooklyn, NY, since it opened and has taught more than one-hundred 12-week courses for beginning, intermediate, and advanced swimmers, including open water swim workshops and multi-week courses at Brighton Beach.
  • He is the Head Masters Swim Coach at Berkeley Carroll and has led daily workouts since creating the program in 2005.

Teams

  • John is the Assistant Varsity Swim Coach for the Berkeley Carroll school in Brooklyn, NY, specializing in stroke mechanics and program design for the team.
  • He has been a triathlon coach for Team In Training (TNT) since 2003 and their Brooklyn Head Triathlon Coach since its inception.
  • As a coach for the Brooklyn Triathlon Club (BTC), John leads workshops on season planning,  helps organize and coach training camps, and coaches weekly brick training sessions.

Camps

  • John is a coach for Open Sky Training,  where he leads two to three weekend triathlon camps each season.

Competition

  • John has competed in triathlon and other sports at a wide range of distances including Ironman™. Some of his favorite events have been: Breezy Point 1993 (Norfolk VA – his first tri), Ironman™ Florida (his parents were cheering at every transition), Flat As A Pancake (Staten Island – he likes flat courses and pancakes), 24hrs of Great Glen (mountain bike race with a team from BTC, with deep woods, head lamps, 2AM rides – all of it amazing), and the Texas Time Trials (1st Place 2-man team in a 500mi bike race)
