You know what you need to work on, where your weaknesses lie, and you want to address them quickly and intelligently. Being able to see or measure improvement lesson to lesson only seems fair given your time and monetary investments. And you want what you learn to be repeatable without a coach, so that your improvement can be permanent.
This is how a Race Day Coaching training session (or series) typically goes:
- We discuss your goals for the sport
- You warm-up and all aspects of your form are evaluated
- Many times, video is taken to mark a starting point
- I review with you what I see and tell you how I think your abilities can best progress on this day and over the long term
- Our goal will be to come up with two or three focus points you can practice that will make you better immediately
- We review how you will know that you’re improving as you work on your own
- You get in two or three practices between lessons so that we can move on to new skills the next time
- Performance testing may be done in some lessons as is appropriate
